Gemini Holistic Healing - healing based on the Gemini's astrological deficiencies and strengths.

Gemini Period: 21 May-21 Jun

Gemini Element: Air

Ruling Planet: Mercury

Gemini Mode: Mutable

Gemini Modality: Positive

Keyword: Communicate

Gemini is the third sign in the zodiac, being 14-21 years old astrologically, they are forever youthful and thrive when life is constantly changing. They tend to “search” for most of their lives, not necessarily for something in particular there is just a feeling that something is out there and they have to find it.

GEMINI RULING PLANET

Mercury represents the mind and intellect, and rules Gemini, sign of duality. Mercury is an airy planet, associated with all forms of communication and the in-flow and out-flow of intelligence. Its position indicates how your mental function will be expressed, and where techniques and skills are available to you.

POWER CHAKRA

VISHUDDA

5th Chakra-Throat

Because the ruling planet of Gemini is Mercury-ruler of communication, the power chakra for the Gemini is the 5th chakra, Vishuddha or the throat chakra.

Clearing your throat chakra will help you to communicate and break your internal boundaries.

Vishudda means “to purify”. Vishudda is regarded as an important bridge from the heart, in the raising of consciousness through the sequential activation of the chakras from the base to the crown of the head. In a sense it really is a bridge, because it takes us from one side of the river of life - our body - to the other side, the spiritual realms.

It is the place from where we can speak or sing our love: for our partner, our world, our God, our Goddess. Alternatively, when we use our voice to hurt, or speak ill of others, we destroy and turn the energies of this chakra inward. Vishuddha will not continue to receive sustenance from the sacred other unless we can speak and sing good words.

The Throat chakra is associated with:

  • Expression, in particular ability to express your truth, to speak out

  • Communication, whether it’s verbal or non-verbal, external or internal

  • Connection with the etheric realm, the more subtle realms of spirit and intuitive abilities

  • Propensity to create, projecting ideas and blueprints into reality

  • Realizing your vocation, purpose

  • Good sense of timing

The Throat chakra is about the expression of yourself: Your truth, purpose in life, creativity.

POWER CHAKRA IMBALANCE

A blocked throat chakra can contribute to feelings of insecurity, timidity, and introversion. On the other end of the spectrum, an overactive throat chakra may also lead to gossiping, non stop talking, and being verbally aggressive or mean. It can seem as though the filter between the discourse you have in your mind and what comes out of your mouth is not working, or missing entirely.

When the throat chakra has an imbalance, it can manifest as:

  • Lack of control over one’s speech; speaking too much or inappropriately;

  • Not being able to listen to others

  • Excessive fear of speaking

  • Small, imperceptible voice

  • Not being able to keep secrets, or keep your word

  • Telling lies

  • On the opposite side, a closed throat chakra might manifest as excessive secretiveness or shyness

  • Lack of connection with a vocation or purpose in life

Imbalances can also physically manifest as:

  • Graves Disease

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Exhaustion

  • Digestive and weight problems

  • Sore throats, neck pain and pain in the back of the head

BALANCING ASANAS

DHANURASANA

(Bow Pose)

It is common for rising pranic energy to become blocked at the throat, and this asana opens Vishudda, moving energy up from the abdomen region, thus allowing the release of toxins on all levels. The state of consciousness you are seeking is an objective mental state known as anandamayakosha (the body of bliss).

Visualize your incoming and outgoing breath as a beautiful turquoise blue light.

  1. Lie on your front, with your face down. Reach back, bending your knees and holding your ankles. Keep your knees together throughout the asana.

  2. Pulling on your ankles, slowly and cautiously raise your trunk and legs as high as possible. Stretch your neck. Hold position up to 10 seconds.

PASCHIMOTTASANA

(sitting forward bend)

Energywise, this asana encourages the upward and downward flow of prana (breath) throughout the chakra system toward the Throat Chakra.

  1. Sit on the floor with your legs stretched straight. Place your palms on the floor by the side of your hips. Exhaling, stretch over your legs, bending from the pelvic region. Hold either your ankles or your big toes (whichever you can reach comfortably).

  2. Aim to get the back flat but do not overdo the stretch. When you are a beginner at yoga, it is far better to stretch in the general direction of any asana than force the position. Choose an affirmation from below to recite as you perform this pose.

POWER CRYSTALS/STONES

AQUAMARINE

A wonderful stone for meditation, Aquamarine shields the aura, invokes high states of consciousness, and encourages service to humanity. With an affinity to sensitive people, it invokes tolerance and supports anyone overwhelmed by responsibility. Breaking self-defeating programing, it leads to dynamic change. Useful for closure on all levels, this stone is helpful in understanding underlying emotional states and interpreting how you feel. Removing extraneous thought, Aquamarine filters information reaching the brain and clarifies perception.

BLUE SAPPHIRE

Traditionally worn on the right side of the body, Sapphire was said to protect its owner from imprisonment and to assist with legal matters. Known as the wisdom stone, Sapphire focuses and calms the mind, releasing unwanted thoughts and mental tension. This stone alleviates depression and spiritual confusion, attracting prosperity and gifts of all kinds. Placed on the throat, it releases frustration and aids self-expression.

Blue Sapphire, in addition to the above properties, also is a stone for the seeker after spiritual truth and is traditionally associated with love and purity. This tranquil stone assists in staying on the spiritual path and transmutes negative energies. Extremely effective for earth and chakra healing, it stimulates the thyroid, and facilitates self-expression and speaking one's own truth.

ESSENTIAL OILS

LAVENDAR

Happiness, psychic awareness, inner strength, psychic power, peace, meditation

Try it in the bath (5 drops), in a vaporizer or diffuser, or as 2 drops on a handkerchief.

CHAMOMILE (Roman chamomile)

Money, success, luck, new beginnings, love. It is the best essential oil to calm the Throat Chakra (use with caution, it does cause drowsiness or a “spacey” feeling).

Mix 2 drops of essential oil with 5ml of carrier oil such as coconut, jojoba, olive, or sweet almond oil.

ROSEMARY/THYME/SAGE

Rosemary-protection purification, healing, mental power.

Thyme-strength, courage, wisdom. Helps you to connect and trust your inner voice.

Sage-Healing, purification, cleansing, banishing negative energy. Spiritual health.

Use these three herbs as a combination or alone as steam inhalations. They are not recommended for use in home aromatherapy blends, and should not be used at all if you are pregnant.

MAGIC POTION: 50 ml (2 fl oz) of a carrier oil, 10 drops of rosemary essential oil and a pinch of thyme.

AFFIRMATIONS

The practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment—fostering a belief that "a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything". Post them anywhere you will frequently see them (your car, your mirror, work station, etc.). Choose a few that resonate the most, say them 10 times each morning and 10 times each night.

  • I am divine expression.

  • Spiritual attitude is gratitude.

  • As I express gratitude, I receive worthiness.

  • I am worthy to receive the blessings of life.

  • I speak the truth of who I am with love, wisdom and clarity.

  • I express energy as language and understand the spoken word as an architect of reality.
